What Makes us unique
Break Free Kansas City offers weekly classes featuring authentic instruction in Breakdancing, DJing (using state of the art turntables, mixers, and vinyl) Hip Hop, and Art. We will also be periodically hosting creative arts workshops that focus on the Hip Hop elements of Graffiti Writing and Emceeing. Break Free Kansas City is bringing REAL Hip Hop to the community and delivering it with a focus on peace, love, unity, and fun!
The Break Free Kansas City team is led by owner James aka SugEasy Singleton: a dancer, teacher, choreographer, artist, and advocate for the positivity represented by true Hip Hop Culture who’s been actively working in the KC dance scene for over 20 years. SugEasy is a practitioner of all the creative elements of Hip Hop—Breaking, DeeJaying, Emceeing, Beat Boxing and Graffiti Writing. He’s learned these skills from the original pioneers of this positive culture and he’s always on the move to learn more and grow more so he can constantly become a better artist and teacher. Mostly though, SugEasy invests his time in sharing his authentic knowledge with all people in his community–from many different races, ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
SugEasy’s goals are to enlighten as many minds as possible, to elevate the Hip Hop movement, and to change the public’s perception of his culture from the negative to the positive.

Founded in 2011, Break Free Hip Hop School’s first location is in Houston, TX. That location has operated as an arts education center, youth outreach program, and worldwide artist collective aiming to educate and inspire a new generation of artists through the artistic elements of authentic Hip Hop culture.
The Break Free team effectively mentors students to be creative, goal-oriented, and self-expressive individuals. Their efforts have reached over 25,000 youth worldwide through in-house and mobile programming. The Hip Hop school staff thoughtfully approach each opportunity to impact a person’s life with passion, positivity, and enthusiasm for innovation and improvisation.
Recently, the Break Free Hip Hop School in Houston expanded into a global agency known as Break Free Worldwide – a firm dedicated to providing Hip Hop education, lifestyle influence, program development, and artist professionalism.
We at Break Free Kansas City are proud to be a part of this family and we look forward to continuing our collective mission to bring positive change into our local communities and cities—then ultimately, hopefully—into our great country… and to the whole world!
